Hi, I'm Sarah, welcome to The Daily English Show. The video I recommend today is an ad for Old Spice body wash.
Wikipedia says Old Spice is a prominent American brand of male grooming products. And it's been around for a while, the first product came out in 1937. This video is called The Man Your Man Could Smell Like.
It was uploaded in February and it now has more than 15 million views and it's part of a campaign that included making lots of video responses to comments on the internet. That was last week, and that was the first time that I heard of the ad.
So it's been a very successful campaign and apparently the ad has also won some awards. I love it. I think the concept and the script is brilliant … and so is the delivery, of course.
It starts like this: Hello ladies. Look at your man. Now back to me. Now back at your man. Now back to me. Sadly, he isn't me. But if he stopped using lady-scented body wash and switched to Old Spice, he could smell like he's me. So if you're one of the few people on the planet who haven't seen this ad yet, go and watch it now, so you can see what all the fuss is all about. STICK NEWS Kia ora in Stick News today a French flight attendant has been arrested for stealing money and jewelry from sleeping passengers. A 47-year-old flight attendant has confessed to 27 passenger thefts but investigators suspect her of many more. News reports say dozens of victims filed complaints after night flights – mostly between Paris and Tokyo. An investigation was launched in January after five Japanese passengers on a Tokyo-Paris flight told French police they'd been robbed during their flight. The flight attendant was busted after investigators analyzed the lists of flight crews.
And that was Stick News for Thursday the 22nd of July. Kia ora.
I stole it.Where's the rest?! Konbanwa! Would you like some pills to help you sleep?Mwahahaha!Merci! How thoughtful! They stole all the money for my new Louis Vuitton bag.Oh dear. She's the only one who was on all those flights... it's got to be her!Nice one! Word of the Day Today's word is insinuate . insinuate verb to suggest indirectly that sth unpleasant is true.
For example: The article insinuated that he was having an affair with his friend's wife. This is the video description under the Old Spice video: We're not saying this body wash will make your man smell into a romantic millionaire jet fighter pilot, but we are insinuating it. So they're using the word insinuating in a humorous way there, because insinuating is for a bad thing, but … it would be good thing, I guess, if your man turned into a romantic millionaire jet fighter pilot. conversations with sarah #798 You should do it Step 1: Repeat Robyn's lines.
