tdes, walls opens

Hi, I'm Sarah, welcome to The Daily English Show. It's the first of July and today is the grand opening of The Daily English Show supporter's wall. You can see the wall on our site thedailyenglishshow.com. There are 100 bricks on the wall and as you can see, most of them are still empty.Next month, we're selling them for a fundraising project, but this month they're absolutely free, and our aim is to fill up all the bricks on the wall. So please help us out and claim a brick. You don't have to buy one next month, you can just have one this month. It's very easy, just send us an email (thedailyenglishshow@gmail.com) telling us what you'd like written on the brick, it can be just words or a logo or picture if you have one, and tell us the site you'd like the brick to link to. It can be your company or organisation's website, or a personal blog, YouTube channel, twitter account, whatever. Today we're studying a video made by StoryCorps – which is the organization I talked about yesterday. They record people's stories in America and this video is an animation that's been made to one of the interviews. It's a boy asking questions to his mother. The boy's name Joshua and he asks his mother questions like: Have you ever felt like life is hopeless? And: Have you ever lied to me? And I think the mother's answers are really thoughtful and honest. And I found the video quite moving. Near the end of the video, Joshua asks his mother: Did I turn out to be the son you wanted when I was born, like did I meet your expectations ...? And his mother says: You've exceeded my expectations, sweetie. To exceed means to go beyond. So she's telling him that he turned out to be an even greater son than she'd hoped for. Today we're studying a video made by StoryCorps – which is the organization I talked about yesterday.
They record people's stories in America and this video is an animation that's been made to one of the interviews.
It's a boy asking questions to his mother. The boy's name Joshua and he asks his mother questions like:
Have you ever felt like life is hopeless?
And: Have you ever lied to me?
And I think the mother's answers are really thoughtful and honest. And I found the video quite moving.
Near the end of the video, Joshua asks his mother: Did I turn out to be the son you wanted when I was born, like did I meet your expectations ...?
And his mother says: You've exceeded my expectations, sweetie.
To exceed means to go beyond. So she's telling him that he turned out to be an even greater son than she'd hoped for.
