Intricacies of Life, Miss Universe 2009

Ok. I will just start right out and let you know that I'm not a big fan of Miss Universe. In fact, I'm not a big pageant fan, in general. But!!! How could I possibly neglect to rave about how the pageant was hosted in my country this past Sunday?! I told all my neighbors to watch it, and the day after I asked my classmates if they'd seen it or not. Of course, people made comments about how beautiful the islands are, etcetera, etcetera, and I just nodded and smiled and affirmed, because you and I already know this. :) I didn't actually watch the show because I don't have a television, and I couldn't find it streaming live on the internet. Bummer! I did watch the interviews of all the contestants on youtube, though, where the girls were all mentioning some facts that were not well known about their country, any fears they had entering the contest, and three wishes they would like to see fulfilled. (I learned that Skype started in Estonia. I didn't know that before. ) So, anyway, from what I watched, when my sister told me who were in the top five, I though for sure Miss Dominican Republic should have won, Miss Australia should have been runner-up, and Miss Venezuela should have left with the consolation prize. :P My judgment was not based on the fact that I live in the Dominican Republic, but I thought that she was a really high quality contestant. Unfortunately, the actual order turned out to be Miss Venezuela first, Miss Dominican Republic second, and Miss Australia third. Ridiculous!
