TheDoctor's podcasts, Write a thank-you letter (American accent)

Write a letter to someone who has given you a lot of help and support in your life. Thank them for everything that they have done for you.

Dear Harry, I am writing this letter to you because I would like to let you know how grateful to you I am. I appreciate everything you have done - your advice, helpfulness and your spending time with me. You have always been so nice, friendly and smiling which made me relaxed in your company. I never felt stressed while speaking with you just like I did with English teachers at primary school, high school and at university. Thanks to your advice I have realized a lot of things which had seemed to me so difficult before. You have always tried to explain everything as simply as you could and you have never used any grammar rules and that's something I really like. Thinking about it, I remember that when I met you for the first time, I told you that I hate grammar rules and that it had always bothered me and blocked my brain because of thinking about such stupid rules which have a lot of exceptions anyway. I even remember how awful my English was when I arrived in England 6 months ago. After a lot of experience with learning languages (German, Spanish, English) and speaking to you and other native speakers here in Britain, I've found my own way to learn languages. I really fancy brushing up my German and learning Spanish a bit. I don't doubt that I can learn as many languages as I want. It is pretty easy to learn a new language - as long as you know how to learn and it is a matter of time, patience and efficiency... that's for sure! I must say that I've always admired your multi-lingual skills. You know, I've been told by many British people that they did not need to learn any languages because English is spoken by people around the world. Anyway, do you remember how often I've talked with you about my friend from Australia? She is amazing too, just like you are. She has been helping me with English over the Internet for the last couple of months. You both are really marvellous people. Anyway, hopefully I will hang out in a pub or clubs with you as well as with your friends and your girlfriend. I would like to meet them and have fun with all of you guys. Take care, Jarda
