Dr. Laura, Inform Our Son of Change in Will

Dr. Laura: Diane, welcome to the program.

Diane: Yes, Dr. Laura, thank you. I am calling because we just found out our son, Peter, is doing cocaine and he has been a binge drinker. We are wondering if we should let him know we are changing our Will. He'd have to go through a test before he could ever if anything were to happen to me and my husband. Dr. Laura: There's no reason why you can't inform him what the criteria would be in order for him to realize your estate. Diane: Okay.

Dr. Laura: Why would you have to ask the question of whether or not you would give him the information?

Diane: Well, we just didn't want to make him, I don't know. Dr. Laura: You didn't want to make him uncomfortable? You didn't want to upset him? Is that right, Diane?

Diane: Probably.

Dr. Laura: Is that probably why he's a druggie and a drunk. He can't handle being a little upset. Have you been that protective of him? Have you babied him that much?

Diane: Oh, I hope not.

Dr. Laura: Yeah, but you know you have.

Diane: Yeah.

Dr. Laura: Yeah.

Diane: Okay, Dr. Laura, thank you.

Dr. Laura: You're welcome. Maybe this will be the beginning of fixing this family's dynamics.
