What's New at the Linguist, November 2005

Well, we finally seem to be over our technical issues. One good thing about the recent troubles we encountered with our server is that we were able to make upgrades to our system components that should improve the performance of our site. As they say, “Every cloud has a silver lining.” Unfortunately, all of this work related to the server has delayed new enhancements we were planning. We were hoping to have a testing module implemented by now but this has been pushed back and now we're looking at having a testing system in place in mid-December. Many of you have been asking for a way to test your level both at the start and later, after having used the system for a while. We are quite anxious to get this improvement out to you.

Otherwise I'm happy to see a few Linguist Groups working well. Forming groups is a great and fun way to learn. It would be nice to see a few more of you looking to join groups so that it would be easier for members in all time zones to find suitable times for group discussions. Take the time to go to the forum and try to join or set up a group.

Finally, as the Christmas/winter gift-giving season approaches, what about giving your friends or family members the gift of The Linguist? 2006 is a great year for them to make a breakthrough in their English!
