A Backwards Guide to Everyday Life the Diary/Blog of Chris Sarda, The Fishing Trip

The Fishing Trip Listening to: Bad Company So, I'm not a fisherman, it's something I didn't used to look forward to doing when I was younger and my dad would drag me out at the crack of dawn to do it. I preferred to sit in my underwear on Saturday mornings with a big bowl of cereal and watch Transformers or whatever other cartoons I was interested in at the time. I certainly wasn't interested in waking up early and on top of it all, I hate the taste of fish! So I never really got around to really getting into fishing.

So then comes in my friend Rob who decides that he wants to go on a little fishing trip and tells me to come along. He knows I'm a novice but these are friends I hadn't seen in months or even years so I tagged along. There were a few problems with our little trip though. Problem number one was that I couldn't get to sleep all night and had to wake up at about 3 am. At about 1 am I just decided to stay up. Then my friends didn't pick me up until 4 am because they decided to stay out drinking until about 230 in the morning. Now we weren't going to just go to some small lake in Nevada, we had a 2 and half hour drive ahead of us to some small city on the border of Utah and Nevada. So we were all sick and tired on the way the there, but at the same time ready to fish. Everything was set up and we sat... Which was nice... The problem is that we sat the whole time... Between the four of us that went we caught one fish hardly bigger than my hand... So now these guys are hung over annoyed and angry that we didn't catch anything! I didn't mind not catching anything since I figured that's what would happen anyway, but the others didn't like it. Afterward, I was elected to keep the driver awake, which in my opinion is a worse job than actually driving, but it was a friend I hadn't spoken to in awhile so it was nice to catch up. It's amazing to see someone that was actually affected by the recession, it seemed to me it was mostly a news thing and that everyone I knew still had their jobs, but it did touch real people. Anyway that's all for this one... thanks for listening...
