What's New at the Linguist, June 2005

Here we are in June already. Here in Vancouver, we're starting to get the nice summer weather which is great. Did the first five months of the year go by quickly or is it just me? We have been busy at The Linguist as we try to figure out how to best market our system. I should mention that Steve does not have an article in this edition of our newsletter. Steve is traveling in Europe where he is making good use of his many languages! This trip he will be in Sweden, Germany, France, and England. Of note is his attendance at a corporate English training convention in Dusseldorf.

You will see in this issue of our newsletter that we have added a couple new faces to our team. John Koetsier is going to be helping us with our online marketing. In this role, he has implemented a Linguist Team blog. All Linguist staff and all Linguist members will be welcome to post, and of course, read and submit comments to this blog. For more details please see John's article below. We have also added the “Pronunciation Doctor” Kerri Drummond who will be providing intensive pronunciation training for those of our members who would like more specific training on this skill. Again please see Kerri's article below. Otherwise, we continue to add new content and to try to improve the system. We will hopefully soon be revamping the look of the member area to match the look of the front pages. For all you Anne of Green Gables fans we will be adding this time-honoured story in audio and text to our library very soon. It will be rolled out in installments. We are also working on a variety of other enhancements that I'm sure you will all appreciate. I will write more on these next time.
