TheDoctor's podcasts, Birthday party (British accent)

Your English friend, Max, has sent you an email asking you to help him organise a special surprise birthday party for his sister Tessa. Read Max's email and then write an email to Max. Hi Jarda, we must make sure that Tessa has no idea we´re planning such a great surprise! I´m not sure how many people to invite but our house is certainly too small. Do you think we should book the Majestic Hotel for the evening and have the party there? Tessa loves music so we could have a live band. I´ve also spent ages thinking about what we could all buy her as a present. Do you have any ideas? Could you come the day before the party to help with the preparations? There's a lot to think about so I'd really like your help! And can you suggest something else that will make her party really special? Best wishes Max Dear Max, Nice to hear from you. I am writing to you in response to your letter about Tessa's party. It takes a long time to prepare a good party. I really don't know how many people you should invite. If I were you, I would invite just Tessa´s closest friends. Everything's pretty expensive and I think she doesn't want a big party anyway, does she? I know that your house is really small, so it might not be possible to have a party there. I was thinking about the Majestic Hotel and I would like to ask you, are you really so rich that you can book such an expensive hotel? As far as I know, it is one of the most expensive hotels in the city, so don't go crazy. I tell you what, my parents are going to Spain for their holidays in three weeks. If you want you could have the party in my house as long as you swear that all of your friends won't make a mess and that they will behave properly. I would not want my parents to be angry with me. Let me know as soon as you decide if you want to have the party in my house. Because if so, you should come to my house the day before to prepare the party. If not, shall I come to your house the day before? I know a lot about preparing parties, so you don't have to tell me how time-consuming it is. I would say it is not possible to prepare a party by yourself. What would make this party special? I have no idea. I think you mentioned something about a live band. That would be great. I really like the Cranberies and so does Tessa! It would be a very special party with a live band, but it would be a bit expensive, so we could have a Cranberies tribute band. In my opinion, she is worth it but I'm wondering if you feel the same. Thinking of a present for Tessa, I have a really good idea of what might make her happy. You know how well I have been getting along with Tessa for the last couple of years. We have talked about her dreams and things that she wants in her life. One of these things is travelling. She wishes she could travel around the world to get to know different places such as the USA, Brasil and even the Czech Repulic (that's because of me, surely). I was thinking that we should buy her a ticket to a country which she wants to visit in order to fulfill part of her dreams. What do you think about that? I have already checked a couple of travel agencies and it is not too expensive as long as we all contribute some money to it. I would really like to see the smile on her face. Take care. Jarda
