First of all, I want to thank the people who created the LINGQ system.
Many times I tried to resume studying English, but the only way I knew was studying grammar and vocabulary, and it always ended in failure. Because it was boring and also I didn't find it reinforcing and I didn't see any positive effects on my overall English competence.

I also tried listening to English movies or news on TV, but that was not very helpful either. Because I couldn't understand the whole context and the things that I couldn't understand remained the same. When I met LingQ studying English became a fascination to me. I enjoy studying English now,and I don't want to keep it to myself, it works great, and I want to share it with my friends.

I started Russian in high school, took it for four years, and for another two at university. Those last two were mostly maintenance; I don't think I learned a whole lot more. I always got good marks. I learned the grammar well, but not enough vocabulary to be really useful, and practically nil listening comprehension when exposed to a native.

I maintained a passive interest in the language after finishing school, and would occasionally glance at material, especially when the Internet made that more and more easy. Eventually I started poking around language learning sites.

I started here on Lingq 5+ years ago and got serious about 4 years ago. About 3 years ago I read my first novel on Lingq. It was a struggle, but it was an arresting story that kept pulling me along, and as a result my vocabulary increased enormously. I've read several more books, and each one was a big boost.

My name is Eddie. I use your app everyday and love it. I’m a native English and Spanish speaker, and I have used LingQ as my primary resource to learn 5 languages (in progress to 6 with Indonesian being my current language of focus). I learned Italian, French, Catalan, Portuguese, and Norwegian. Once the Beta comes through, I’m planning on learning Tagalog and Swahili. The only language I learned outside of your app was Haitian Creole, and although it’s a relatively easy language to learn, I know that I would’ve learned that at thrice the speed with LingQ. It’s really incredible that with your app, I was able to learn five languages in over a year - can’t thank you enough.

I personally have seen a huge success with LingQ in at least two languages, that no other method that I have used could even come close to allowing me to progress. I took a year and a half of Mandarin Chinese in college, did mediocre and had terrible sentence structure a low vocabulary and barely was seeing success in the classroom. I, later on, studied various languages as a result of my program of study in my Master's Program. I even took Classical Chinese for two years in graduate school. Halfway through my graduate program, I started using LingQ. I used it to learn French in conjunction with my school coursework, and in 15 weeks I was reading scholarly articles understanding upwards of 90%.

Before I started French, I was using LingQ to start back with Mandarin. In 4 months of fairly intensive work on my own reading and listening to interesting content (almost entirely on LingQ with a little bit of practice on iTalki), I was having basic conversations with people. I studied on LingQ for about 8 months on Mandarin and was very happy with my progress speed.

LingQ is the thing that got me to a good level in German. This is hands down the best tool for learning languages. With LingQ and with listening to music, I am able to understand quite a good amount of German, and I am well on my way to being able to produce it eloquently. Most of the time I can just speak. Little thoughts about it, I can just go. Without LingQ I KNOW I would not be able to.
