These are yams.
Well, they're what we call yams in Polynesia anyway.
Apparently, the rest of the world calls another vegetable a yam.And in parts of North America, they call kūmara or sweet potatoes, yams.
In Wikipedia it says that these yams are eaten raw in Mexico, but in New Zealand they're usually cooked.
I decided to roast them today.I cut them up and mixed them with some olive oil and then put them in the oven for about half an hour.
Delicious.
