tdes, NetGuide Awards, Boy Survives 16-story Fall...

Hi, I'm Sarah, welcome to The Daily English Show. I hope you had a fantastic weekend. Did anyone film anything on Saturday for YouTube's life in a day project? I went to the markets and bought some vegetables … which isn't that exciting, but anyway, I'll be uploading that on Saturday, which is the deadline I think. I have a few things to talk about today. Firstly, we've put a new poll on the site today. And this week's question is: What's your favourite section of a newspaper / news site? Last week's question was: What's the main reason you're learning English at the moment? And the winner was: fun , followed by work , then school , travel and other . So thank you for answering the poll. It's really interesting to see the results and it's another good way of finding out more about you guys, the people who watch the show. Please go and answer this week's question. And another thing you could do for us, if you have a spare few seconds, is go and vote for us in the NetGuide Web Awards. These are awards for New Zealand websites. And the voting closes on Friday this week. You can go to this page and scroll down to Best Education Site and in the other box type www.thedailyenglishshow.com .And hopefully we'll win. I'm not sure if there are actually any prizes for these awards, I think the prize is probably just glory. But that's OK, I'd be happy with some glory. Finally, I have some exciting news … and that is we have a new segment of the show starting this week. It's going to be every Thursday … and we haven't actually decided what it's going to be called yet, so you'll just have to wait and see. We are talking a camera to the streets of New Zealand and maybe the world in future, but starting with Auckland, to ask people questions. That's starting this Thursday. STICK NEWS Kia ora in Stick News today a 15-year-old boy fell 16 floors and survived. Last week a teenager fell 16 storeys from an apartment in Manukau City, New Zealand. Experts say people who fall more than 10 storeys almost never survive. Apparently the boy survived thanks to crashing through the steel roof of a carpark which cushioned his fall. News reports say police are still investigating the cause of the fall. And that was Stick News for Monday the 26th of July.Kia ora.

Do you reckon if I flap my arms enough I'll be able to fly?No, but you'll get a Darwin Award for sure. I'm letting you off with a warning this time.Thanks. What happened?

Sarah The Otara markets are mainly vegetables, but they also sell other stuff like … clothes and shoes. I saw some cool tapa there too. Charles What's that? Sarah It's a kind of cloth made from bark I think and painted with beautiful designs. I'd love to get a big piece to put on the wall. Charles Is it cheap at the markets? Sarah No, it's not cheap, it's quite expensive actually, because it's all hand made Questions It's been 6 years since I touched Russian soil. So far, so good.
