Last Saturday I went to an event in Auckland called Manu Aute Kite Day. It was part of the Matariki Festival and was held at Orakei Marae.It was a perfect day with blue skies and a gentle breeze. The kites looked beautiful. The views were stunning too. That island that you can see is Rangitoto. Apart from the kites, there were also workshops and story telling in the wharenui – that's this building. You could also have a go at making a traditional kite and get a temporary tattoo.
